Who we are
Edicta Inc. is a Canadian corporation based in Ontario. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website and we handle it in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The person accountable for this notice is the founder of Edicta Inc., who acts as privacy officer. Write to info@edicta.ca for questions, access requests or complaints.
Statements on this site that data is hosted in Canada refer to the Edicta application and the data firms keep in it. This public website uses the form, font and analytics providers described below.
What we collect, and why
Demo and contact requests
When you submit the demo request form we receive what you type: your name, firm, role, work email, and, if you choose to give them, a phone number and notes. The form also sends the page you sent it from and the page that led you to it, the first page you opened on this site and the page that referred you to it, any campaign parameters in the address (such as UTM tags), the time you sent it and your browser's time zone, so that we know how people find Edicta and when to reach you. The form is delivered to us by Formspree, a form-processing service that stores submissions on servers in the United States; Formspree also receives your IP address and browser details with the request, as any web server does, and keeps a copy of each submission in its archive for 30 days under our current plan. Information processed in the United States may be accessible to that country's courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under its laws. We use this information only to respond to your request. We keep it for as long as we are in contact with you about Edicta and delete it on request.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. It sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*, which hold a random identifier so that repeat visits are counted as one visitor, and last up to two years) and records pages viewed, the type of device and browser, an approximate, city-level location, and the actions you take here: clicking Sign in, Request a demo or our email address, and sending the demo form (that event carries the role you selected, not your name or email). Google uses your IP address to derive that location and to protect the service against abuse, and states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google processes this data on our behalf on its servers outside Canada, including in the United States, and keeps user- and event-level data for 14 months (aggregated report totals are kept beyond that). We have switched off Google's data-sharing options, so Google does not use this data for its own products. We do not use advertising features, remarketing or cross-site tracking. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google Analytics. You can also block analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking scripts from googletagmanager.com with a content blocker; the site works the same either way.
Hosting logs
The website is served by Firebase Hosting, a Google service, from Google's global network. Like every web server it records each request (IP address, page requested, browser type, referring page and time) for security and troubleshooting. Our copy of those logs is kept in Google Cloud Logging for 30 days. We may keep extracts for up to 12 months to understand how visitors reach the site and to investigate abuse, then delete them. Google, as the hosting provider, also retains request data, including IP addresses, for a few months for abuse detection under its own terms.
Fonts
The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. Each request sends your IP address and browser details to Google, which logs them to serve the fonts and for security. Google Fonts sets no cookies.
If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is relevant to our dealings with you.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not run advertising, retargeting or lead scoring on this website.
- We do not add you to a mailing list because you requested a demo. You will hear from us about your request, and then only if you ask us to continue.
Cookies and browser storage
The only cookies this site sets are those of Google Analytics, described above. The demo form does not set cookies. So that a demo request can tell us how you found Edicta, the site keeps the address of the first page you opened here, the page that referred you, the time, and any campaign parameters in your browser's session storage. That entry never leaves your browser unless you send the form; it is cleared once the form has been sent successfully and, in any case, when you close the tab.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@edicta.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If we change this notice, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
